Common gate motor problems in the Top End
Batteries that die early. Darwin heat shortens the life of standard lead-acid batteries. We test your battery on every visit and can upgrade you to lithium (LiFePO4) where it suits your system.
Solar that can’t keep up in the Wet. Small panels and batteries often run flat after a few overcast days. We upsize them to get you through monsoon season.
Storm and surge damage. One lightning strike or power spike can take out a control board. We repair or replace it, then fit surge protection.
A motor too small for the gate. A motor rated for a light gate will struggle on a heavy one. It works well at first, then wears out early. We’ll tell you straight if yours is undersized.
Gate stops or reverses on its own. Debris on the track, wind load or incorrect force settings can trigger the safety system. We clear, adjust and recalibrate.
Ants and geckos. In the Build-Up, they go looking for somewhere warm and dry, and a motor housing is ideal. Nests and droppings can short out control boards. We clean out the housing, repair the damage and seal entry points.
Remotes that won’t reach. We re-code remotes, replace receivers and fit antennas. We can also fit a new receiver and remote set that works with most gate motors.

Sometimes a repair isn’t worth it. If an older motor needs an expensive board, we’ll tell you.
