ATA is an Australian brand with a solid reputation. Their gearboxes and drive systems are robust and handle heavy gates well, so the mechanical side of an ATA motor often keeps going for years.
The catch is parts. ATA parts are expensive, and that changes how a repair should be approached. In Darwin, many faults start small: a surge damages one component, humidity gets past a worn seal, or ants move into the housing during the Build-Up. The motor stops, but most of it is still fine. Swapping out the whole control unit might get your gate moving again, but it can cost far more than the actual fault.
That’s why we test at component level. We find exactly what has failed, and you pay to fix that part, not everything around it. If the fault is serious enough that a repair doesn’t add up, we’ll tell you that too.

Common ATA faults we repair
Surge damage. Storms and power spikes can take out a control board in one hit. We repair or replace it, then fit surge protection so it doesn’t happen again.
Moisture getting in. Worn or poorly fitted seals let water into the motor. We check and replace seals on every repair.
Rushed commissioning. If your gate was never properly “taught” its travel distance or swing, it can overrun, strain and wear out early. We recommission it correctly.
Electrical faults. We test transformers, limit switches and capacitors to find the exact part at fault, rather than replacing whole assemblies.
Remote and receiver problems. Remotes not working from a normal distance? The receiver may be water-damaged or affected by interference. We re-code remotes or fit a new receiver.
Gearbox and clutch wear. Heavy gates wear drive gears and clutch settings over time. We clean the rack, grease the gears and reset the safety clutch.
Solar system faults. On 24V solar setups, we check panels, batteries and charging so your gate keeps running through the Wet.
Upgrades while we’re there
We can also fit battery backup so your gate works during power cuts, replace or add safety beams, and set up TrioCode remotes and keypads. A TrioCode stand-alone receiver can even let one remote run other brands of gate or door opener, so you’re not juggling several remotes.
